Attestation mandatory for import invoices worth Dh10,000 above; violators to face fines in UAE or Dubai

As per Cabinet Resolution No. 38 of 2022

regarding fees for certification of invoices and certificates of origin for imports into the UAE, this new rule will come into effect on February 1, 2023.

Attestation is a procedure to confirm validity of the seal and signature on documents issued in the UAE or abroad.Commercial Invoices attestation service is an automated online service to provide digital attestation for commercial invoices only issued in the UAE or abroad within 12 minutes.The attestation cost fixed by UAE government Dh150 per commercial invoice will be applicable on certain amount for inside or inside the UAE invoices issued  and customers will have a grace period of 14 days after the declaration of goods to comply with the attestation. Failure to do so will result in a “Penalty of AED 500” per invoice levied by the MOFAIC on the non-complying businesses.

Process to apply for Online attestation in UAE

The UAE’s MOFAIC has introduced an electronic online process to complete the import invoice attestation by uploading the PDF documents. This will also generate a reference number as proof of attestation.

Steps for import invoice attestation in UAE

1.Click on Start Service

2.Login using Company Login form or register if not registered

3.Complete the profile if not completed yet

4.Apply for new attestation

5.Fill the form and attach the invoice(s)

6.Pay the fees

7.Receive digitally attested invoice
